- ピラカンサは、花を咲かせれば、ほとんどの場合結実します。
花芽と葉芽の分化が分かりにくいピラカンサですが、
植え替えで花芽の位置を確認しながら、植え替えができますよ。
愛好家さんによって得意不得意は有ろうかと思いますが、我が家では比較的育てやすい樹種。
逆に、ウメモドキなどは、苦手な実物盆栽です。
小さな実物盆栽は、葉刈りなどの負担を減らし、定期的に大きめの鉢で休ませてあげることも大事だと思っています。
葉刈りなどの剪定作業で葉を小さくしてしまい、却って花を咲かせなくなってしまう樹種が多いように思います。
実物盆栽を葉物と同様に細かく作るのが昨今の流行りですが、樹種によっては判断の分かれるところかもしれません。
今回はピラカンサの植え替えを通して、私の実物盆栽への考えを紹介しています。

Many tree species will not bloom if the branches and leaves are made too small.
It is a trend these days to make the branches and leaves smaller, but its success of failure depends on the tree species.

i keep losing the cuttings when i repot as the buds are opening. i was thinking about waiting until fall to repot/root prune. i see here you repot after buds have opened completely and leaves have started to harden off.

It depends on tree species. Not all tree species can be replanted after budding.
